I have taken real DICOM files of different cerebral diseases, such as cerebral aneurysm, and glued them onto two layers of thick cotton paper. Then, with a bisturi I have removed the pathological area. After this, I have replaced the empty three-dimensional-space with red acrylic color and added one layer of pure gold at the bottom.

 

Surgery, as much as art does, has often the power of removing the harmful and leave space for what is truly precious.
